Reflection of my first English class in KUSOM

Assignment of Group Presentation Mr. Eak sir arrived at ten o'clock and started the meeting. Then he brought over two students and asked them to identify the chapters that had been covered and those that still needed to be. Once that was finished, he separated us into various groups of two or three students and asked them to present their chapters. He concluded by announcing the commencement date for the presentations beginning next week, at which point today's session was adjourned early.  

  ADVANCE ENGLISH I IS EVERYONE A SCIENTIST 13th December, 2022 For today's lesson, Mr. Eak divided the class into two groups and decided to hold a mock debate between the two groups on the topic "Everyone is a Scientist." Kashish's group opposed the move, while my group (group Aditya) supported it. This was a very engaging and productive session that enhanced both our knowledge and our ability to debate. In the debate session, the essay "Everyone Is a Scientist" discussed how everyone is a scientist in some sense because they are constantly learning and solving problems on their own. Additionally, he discusses how one may distinguish a true scientist from someone who does not have experience, knowledge, or competence in his field of inquiry.   ADVANCE ENGLISH I HITCHHIKER Dr. Eak Dawadi's class began at the usual time. Today we were taught Roald Dahl's short story "The Hitchhiker." The story tells how one guy dealt with getting a speeding ticket. In the story, the narrator is driving to London when he stops to pick up a hitchhiker. The narrator explains that he always stops for hitchhikers because he used to be one and knows how difficult it can be. The narrator and hitchhiker get to talking, and the hitchhiker becomes very secretive when the narrator asks what he does. However, the narrator doesn't push the issue; again, he remembers that an endless barrage of questions can be annoying for a hitchhiker. Eventually they discuss the narrator's nice car, and the narrator claims it can go 129 miles per hour.   ADVANCE ENGLISH I THE LOTTERLY Eak Sir came to our class today and inquired as to whether any of us had ever won the lottery. Then, one of our friends related his story of winning the lottery when he was still in school. Sir then decided to call the entire class to the front and direct them to stand in accordance with their height. Each male had to select two girls to make a team. Following team creation, he assigned a job to each group. Our group was given the assignment to find all the characters' names in the chapter. Following group presentations, Sir gave us a quick overview of what the chapter really covered. The backdrop for the narrative is a little American community. Every year, there is a tradition of holding a lottery in which the winner is selected among the villages.   ADVANCE ENGLISH I SWORD OF DAMOCLES 20th October 2022   After a long absence, Dr. Dawadi attended English class today. We discovered that he had been in an accident. We resumed class after hearing the entire story from Dr. Dawadi. Last week, Dr. Dawadi taught us a lesson: school is bad for children. Today, he taught us an ancient story, "The Sword of Damocles." As a part of our participation, Dr. Dawadi made us read the literature and analyze it.  The legend has it that Damocles, a courtier in the palace of Dionysius II, frequently bemoaned to his king Dionysius II his misfortune, which doomed him to a life of squalor and hardship.   ADVANCE ENGLISH I AFTER CHHATH October 31, 2022 Today was the first day of class after Tihar and Chhath ;one of the biggest holidays for Hindus.As usual, Dr. Duwadi  arrived on time for class, and we immediately got to talking about how Chhath had recently become more well-known. Sir urged us to write about it, so we followed suit. The interesting thing is that several of our pals were late to class, and Dr. Duwadi gave them an assignment on "Why should latecomers be permitted in class?" I was instructed to write about why Chhath is popular nowadays. I started to write about it.   ADVANCE ENGLISH I SCHOOL IS BAD FOR CHILDREN 13 September 2022 These days, Dr. Duwadi Sir is actively working on a new teaching strategy. He makes an effort to involve us in every step. He began class once more by playing a game reminiscent of "Chinese Whisper." He divided us up into groups and gave us the task of determining whether or not the school was terrible for kids. Our group discussed the benefits and drawbacks of education for kids. Later, sir made us read John Hault's essay, "School Is Bad for Children."   When the author says that going to school is terrible for kids, I do agree with him. The author claims that schools really injure kids by limiting their need for knowledge and changing their inherent perception, intelligence, confidence, and other characteristics. The author argues that while the majority of people believe that going to school or college is required to thrive in life, doing so actually undermines a child's intrinsic abilities....

  ADVANCE ENGLISH I BALLAD OF THE LANDLORD Today ,  6th September 2022 , We were again divided into groups with our classmates today. . Eak Sir gave instruction in relation to the poem by Langston Hughes that we studied in class later on, "The Ballad of the Landlord." We were told to investigate the relationship between a tenant and a landlord, as well as the problems that may arise between them .Through the relationship of a black tenant and a white landlord, this poem depicts the inequality between the white and black races in the 1940s. He demonstrates how whites exploited blacks and failed to provide them with basic rights. Similarly, he depicts how the laws favor whites by stating how the black tenant was kept in detention.   ADVANCE ENGLISH I METAPHORS Today,  September 5, 2022, we talked about Sylvia Plath's exquisite poetry "Metaphors,"   The hardships and emotions she had throughout her first pregnancy are discussed in this poem. Today again Eak Sir separated us up into different groups and assigned us the task of first discussing pregnancy and then interpreting the very poem. It was an extremely helpful and productive session since we learned about Sylvia Plath, her life, and what it's like to be pregnant. While being pregnant is a wonderful thing for a women, I agree with the author "Sylvia Plath" that it also takes a heavy emotional and physical toll on the expectant mother. Pregnancy causes numerous imbalances in the female body, resulting in mood swings, cramps, cravings, and other difficulties. The mother may also experience negative mental effects if the pregnancy was unintended or unplanned. This could have been one of the causes behind Sylvia Plath's suicide at...

                   ADVANCE ENGLISH I THE SELFISH GIANT Today,  August 30th, 2022  Eak sir began the first chapter of our course, "The Selfish Giant," . We were divided into five groups at first. Each group was assigned to read the very story and complete various tasks such as critical thinking, summarizing, interpreting, and assimilation. Because of this group activity our class was very fruitful and interesting .  I agree with the author of "The Selfish Giant," Oliver Wilde, about what he is attempting to portray in this story. He teaches the readers that love and happiness spreads only when we spread it ourselves. He also demonstrates that selfishness does not pay and can only lead to misery. I too believe that we should always try to help others and be kind to them. Being selfish or having ulterior motives will only cause us pain.
